Will the Program require a lot of time or effort?
The Program has been designed to fit easily into your life - without causing extra stress. Linda has found in her clinic that one of the easiest ways for people to improve their health and overcome overwhelm is to have a step-by-step process to follow - which is why the Progam comes with ready-made meal plans, prep guides (that tell you what to prepare when) and shopping lists. Weekly Guides provide an insight into what actually goes on inside your body, and tips for success.
I'm nervous about committing to 4 weeks - do I have to stick to the program the whole time?
The foods and recipes in the Program have been specifically designed by Linda to be tasty and simple to make. While it is recommended that you stick to the Program as closely as possible for maximum benefit, there is room for flexibility to work in with your busy life.
Do I have to give up my favourite foods?
The Program includes delicious foods such as pancakes, smoothies, chocolate-flavoured muffins, fritatta, shawarma, Mexican-style meals, Mediterranean-style meals, puddings and even an ice-cream alternative! You will have plenty of tasty options! You are also free to create your own from a wide range of delicious foods.
Am I locked in to following the meal plans?
Not at all! The meal plans (complete with prep guide and shopping list) are there to make things easier for you if you like to have everything organised and not have to think about what to prepare. There is the option to do the Program 'free-style' using your own food choices, or you can do a combination of the two.
Will I lose weight on the Program?
The Program hasn't been designed specifically as a weight-loss Program, however most people will notice some weight-loss. The Program is perfect as a kick-start towards further weight-loss, as supporting your gut health and liver have been shown to improve the body's ability to burn fat.
Why is the Program gluten- and dairy-free?
Gluten and dairy are foods that are notorious for contributing to a range of health issues (even if you don't feel that they are directly affecting you). Both gluten and dairy can be difficult to break down and digest, and taking a break from these two foods allows your digestive function and your detoxification capacity to improve, which then will help your body tolerate these foods better in the long term, if you do choose to add them back to your diet after the Program.
But what about calcium? Will I become calcium deficient if I avoid dairy?
Not at all - the Program includes plenty of calcium-rich dairy alternatives. Also, by improving your gut health your body will be more able to absorb any nutrients from the foods you eat (including calcium).
Help! I have a special event coming up but I still want to do the Program. Do I have to miss the event so I don't ruin my Program?
Certainly not! Special events are one of the great parts of life, and you don't need to become a social hermit while you are doing the Program. With a little forethought (and some ideas from Linda if you need them) you can succesfully take part in your normal activities.
I'm pregnant - can I still do the Program?
No, the Program is not designed for pregnancy. Although the recipes and foods are safe in themselves, pregnancy is not the time to be participating in a detoxification program as this has the potential to liberate stored toxins in your body into your bloodstream, where if could affect your baby. Also, the meal plans make use of leftovers most days, which is not safe practice during pregnancy. You are most welcome to join a future round of the Program once your baby is born.
I'm breastfeeding - is the Program safe for me and my baby?
Yes, with some adjustments made. As with pregnancy, all the recipes and foods are safe, however during breastfeeding is not the time to be using strong supplements that enhance the detoxification pathways, as this may result in toxins being released into your milk. Therefore, you can safely participate in the Program but leave any supplement recommendations until after you have finished breastfeeding. You may also find that you need to adjust meals/serving sizes to your appetite, so that you are receiving enough calories to support your milk production.
What about other family members - will I have to cook 2 different meals all the time?
The suggested foods, recipes and meal plans have all been designed to be family-friendly. You are free to adapt the recipes to suit your family's tastes by adding extra ingredients or side dishes from the recommended foods list. And by using fresher, healthier foods you will be improving your family's health as well!
I'm diabetic - can I still join?
Yes, with some adjustments made. Depending on how well-controlled your diabetes is, you may need to add some extra side servings of carbohydrate according to your individual recommendations from your doctor or diabetes educator, and monitor your blood glucose levels regularly. The Program focuses on foods that have a low-glycaemic load and are high in antioxidants, as well as healthier habits such as movement ans stress management. These are important for long-term diabetic health by helping maintain stable glucose levels and offering protective properties to the parts of the body that may be affected by the disease.
Is the program suitable for vegetarians?
Yes, you can do the Program if you are vegetarian, however please be aware that many of the meals in the meal plans and recipe booklets include meat such as chicken or fish. You would need to adapt or swap these meals for a vegetarian alternative.
Do I need to stop taking my medication while I do the Program?
Absolutely not - if you have been prescribed a medication, then please keep taking this as usual. If you are taking a medication that requires you to adhere to a special diet (for example, a low-potassium diet for blood pressure or a low vitamin K diet while taking blood-thinning medication) please consult your healthcare practitioner prior to commencing the Program.
Do I need any special equipment?
Just a computer, tablet or smartphone in order to access your Progam files and join the Facebook group. A slow cooker is advantageous for some of the recipes (but not essential). And don't forget to bring your smile!
How many times can I participate in the Program?
Once you have registered for the Program the first time, you have lifetime access! This means you have access to all the resources and recipes anytime you want to use them.
